We got back late last night.
MA was busy as usual.
For some reason, the Mass Pike is just always so busy. No matter which way you are going on it! Coming home though was less busy than heading east.
So...had my mtg at church early Sat and was home by 10: 45. We were on the road by 11: 15.
However, about 45 min. into the trip, about 10 min from the MA/NY border, I said "uh-oh". Dave was like "what."
Faith: "the gift. Did you put the gift in the back".
My teen begins to groan.
Faith: "Yeah, like I figured you would do that while I was at the mtg".
Dave: "like, I don't even know where it is".
Faith: "it's been in the same spot for 2 weeks".
Dave: "I guess I'm turning around".
Faith: "um. does anyone know where my glasses are?" (I had my Rx sunglasses on).
Dave: "they must be here somewhere".
(we all start hunting...well. not dave. he was driving.)
Faith: "I can't go all weekend without my glasses. I'm old. I need them. I can't see without them."
Dave: "ok we're at the toll booth, I'll ask to do a U-ie"
(he gets permission, we head back west).
A few miles goes by. Faith is praying she finds her glasses. Dave is annoyed at the waste of gas. Courtney says just mail a card and check the next time some one graduates. She has a good point.
Faith: "Ok found the glasses. That's so like weird." (they were in the case which was stuck between the seatbelt and my stomach...ya had to be there. It truly was just too weird)
Fast forward to being back on the highway heading East towards Boston.
Faith: "Oops'
The girls: "Now what?"
Faith: "Court, did you pack your disposable camera by any chance?"
Dave: "ok so you forgot our camera?"
Faith: "why is it that I have to pack everything and like that makes it seem like me doing ministry is not as important as you doing ministry because like I make sure your life is so easy when it's your turn to do something for the church. I was at church all a.m. You could have remembered to pack everything!"
Dave: "You CAN do ministry....I was busy with the camper and didn't think about the camera"
Faith "well, you got it inspected, right"
Dave: "No" (tersely)
Faith: "oh boy...ok, well, now we have to add that to the list of things to do next week"
See how different men and women are??
Fast forward a few more miles, heading south towards the Cape.
Faith: "Court....can I borrow your disposable for the party?"
(thank God she knows how to share!)
The party on Sunday was fun. My niece is off to University of Maine in the fall. Her big bro will be a junior at his college in Sept. My other niece will be a jr. at her boarding school in CA. I feel old. My baby is now a 4th grader. My oldest is now a sophomore. Where does the time go???

Too funny! I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time but that sounds an awful lot like our car trips...
Have a great week!
