She Did It!!

Claire passed her level 4 swim class!!!

She was tested yesterday and today because her instructor won't be at the class tomorrow and she won't be there on the last class, Monday.
So....after not thinking she would pass due to her backstroke and dive......she ended up passing!
She totally surprised me!

I had been watching her and saying to my husband that she is a great swimmer underwater and is like a fish...she never comes up for air! However, she is not as strong a swimmer as her big sister was at same age....her strokes seemed unsure to me and she still hasn't perfected the dive.
BUT...the instructor said that she at least is diving in headfirst, not belly-flopping and although her moves could be perfected she did enough to pass their criteria. Same with the backstroke. He said for a 9 year old she has pretty good form. (what do I know? My daughters swim waaaayyyy better than me anyways...I am not a strong swimmer which is why my kids need to be!)

She has decided she is done with official swimming lessons...we have a rule that they must pass out of level 4. So....next year....FINALLY...no more shlepping back and forth to the pool you see pictured above. I have been going there every summer since 2000! (minus 2002 and 2004 due to early camping vacations).
SWIMMING LESSONS ARE OVER!!

The picture above is of the main pool at our town park. Next to it, (not pictured), on the left, is a smaller pool for beginner swimmers. Next to that one is a fenced off area with 2 toddler spray areas. behind the main pool is a cafe and the bathhouses. So...around our house in the next 3 weeks, we will be spending our late afternoons and early evenings here at the main pool.

What have you been doing thus far this summer?

Faith,
As soon as school was done, we dismantled all the bedrooms, rearranged them and in the process, steam-cleaned each of the rooms. I also painted one of the rooms (it was pink) green. When this was done, we started "fine-tuning" each of the main floor rooms. My goal is to get rid of clutter and to settle each of the rooms so that by the time school starts again (6 weeks!) we would be all set.
I still have the basement to work on but the rest of the house is looking much better. Oh, and I also primed the stairwell to the basement. I am hoping to do a little more painting soon.
Now I am working on school plans...(you know about that!) :)
So that has been our past few weeks!

Congratulations to your girl! That is an accomplishment.

What have I done so far this summer? Unfortunately, worked hard. LOL. I still work through the summer and there's even an extra child around so it's pretty busy. But we've spent a lot of time outside so that is always a bonus.

Hi Friends! Thanks for letting me know what you have been up to! You're much busier than I am...well...busier with different things! :)

Karen: make sure you leave some time for your self to rest and recreate! :) I still want to get our families together....

Susanne: It's hard running an in-home daycare center! If I hadn't had such an awesome one to bring my youngest one to, I would not have been able to do the ministry work I was involved in at that time. I am so thankful for Christian women who open their homes to little ones! Now... Leave some time for you!!

Thats phenomenal! Congrats Claire!

I must tell you my daughter is a fish also...I think she already has a fin and is working on gills. She stays in pools, lakes, oceans, forever and usually has to be bribed to get out of the water--ice cream usually works!

Your girls are outstanding role models for other girls who feel they "can't" or are "unworthy"--they stand out for "God does the impossible and with Him I can do anything"

Congrats Faith on your wonderful girls!
