Friday Fave Five #4

Ok...I haven't had a chance to do this the last couple of Fridays so here goes....if you wanna play just head over to Susanne's and follow her directions.

Here are my favorite 5 things from the past week:
  • Moms in Touch group: this is a new group that a friend of mine began. Thank you, Dorrae!! I am thrilled to be a part of this Christian moms group. We meet 2x per month on a Friday afternoon to pray for our children and the school. Currently there are 5 of us, although there are a few more Christian moms with children in the elementary school. A couple of the moms can't attend due to their full time jobs. If you don't know what Moms in Touch is: an international organization where moms who have children in the same school come together to pray for the children, the peers, the administration and the teachers/staff. It is excellent! I look forward to lots of growth, both personally, and in my daughters, because of our prayers.

  • The autumn colors you see pictured below: vibrant reds, oranges, yellows, and russet. I love autumn and this past week my favorite thing to do has been to power-walk in the late afternoon/early evening, after dinner, and worship God in all the glory of His creation....I don't even mind the sun setting earlier and earlier these days because the days have been so beautiful and the sunsets so glorious.
  • My new grey pants from Old Navy. Yes, another online purchase. They were on sale. I needed a new pair of "casual but nicer than jeans" pants for teaching. They are a soft cotton and look great with a pair of flats or clogs. Paired with a casual sweater or a long belted tunic can take me from work to housework to ministry duties. The only downside to the pants is that they do get wrinkly when tumble dried so I need to press them before wearing them. but.....they are worth it!
  • A package of pepperoni: yeah. You read that right. Now, why in the world would a package of pepperoni be one of my faves this week? because my youngest daughter is willing to eat it in her lunch. This week has featured cafe food that she doesn't really care for. So....this means I needed to make her a lunch for 3 out of the 4 days we had school this week. She doesn't do sandwiches any longer. But...she does like pepperoni slices, sliced cheese and ritz crackers....so....voila...an easy lunch for a picky preteen! (and with the leftovers I can make pizza quesadillas this weekend!)
  • Sacred Pathways: the book I am still reading as been my favorite book all week. I am learning so much about the 9 spiritual temperaments. I am finding out which ones I relate to and which ones I am so not like. It has been a blessing to read the words of wisdom by Gary Thomas. I wish I had had this information 10 years ago....my personal devotional life could have used it....but....now that I know the different ways to connect with God, my personal times have really been enjoyable and productive.
What about you? What have some of your favorite things been this past week??

Because it is the holiday weekend, I won't be on here probably until Tuesday.

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends!

Pray for me as I try to convince my husband that it is a glorious weekend for a hike!! :)
Some plans we have:
  • family movie nite tonite at church (movie about Esther...I think it's called "One Night with the King")
  • Saturday: possible hike in Berkshires where colors are at peak/teen to Emerge (her small group and large group Youth Group activity)
  • Sunday: early service at church and then a day with my sister Joy at Fly Creek Cider Mill and Marketplace (teen to her leadership training group and preteen to her dance rehearsal... all at church, which means Daddy gets to oversee everything!)
  • Monday: family day: biking or hiking/relaxing; a dance rehearsal and HizKidz Rehearsal in the evening.
Whatever you do this weekend, enjoy it!

So many good things to comment on...where do I start?

-moms in touch have a wonderful day by day for a month pray sheet for praying for your kids and teens on their website.

That movie is awesome. Loved it.

Love the fall colors you guys get. We don't have quite as much reds as you guys.

the pepperoni one was funny. When my kids got picky is when they started to make their own lunches. That sure took a lot of stress off of me and it they actually ate their lunches.

I have really got to look for that book at the christian book store. It sounds so good.

I totally get it about the pepperoni, especially if it's Hormel's turkey pepperoni. I swear, I'm addicted to it.

I enjoyed my first visit to your blog and especially enjoyed your favorite five things. One of my favorite things about autumn is the colors - after a while, green gets boring! LOL

Thank you, thank you, thank you for being in a MITI group! I was in one when my children were in school and now I'm a public school teacher and hope there's a MIT group praying for us!

Have another happy week!

Faith,
I am a Title 1 teacher in 1st grade, 3 hrs/day, 4 days/week. I also do the CELDT testing. And I tutor reading using Slingerland methods.
