Thankful Thursday

I'm tired.
Am home today as wasn't feeling well all nite. It's hard to be thankful sometimes, isn't it when we are focused on our selves and our physical (or emotional) pain? But, the Bible (the Word of God!!) says to be thankful in all things! That can be tough at times, can't it? I think I have been dealing with IBS. It is something I have been dealing with ever since hitting my late 40's and my dr. told me it is actually more common than one would think. Mine tends to be mild but when it hits.....ick. I don't get much sleep. It tends to hit me every few months but rarely lasts more than 1 day. But....in the midst of it I don't feel very thankful for much! I'm just being honest!! So....before I go back to bed to get the sleep I missed last nite, here are the things the Lord impressed on me that I can be thankful for this week.

  • A Praying husband: I woke him up from a sound sleep (hard to do with him!) and he prayed for me. It brought peace to my body and mind. Even though we had had a very trying conversation (as in arguement!) after dinner, he still prayed for me. He is a good man of God.
  • Sick time: I am thankful I have the luxury of being able to take a sick day just by calling a number in the early a.m. and the school district takes care of the rest! The office finds a sub to take my place in the classroom. Some moms have to go in to work (single moms especially) if they don't feel well. That is really, really hard! I am very thankful for my job and my husband's job which allows me to just work part time hours.
  • Rainy days: I am glad today is a dreary, grey day. We had a little rain early this a.m. and it is still grey and wet outside. It makes staying home to rest a little easier. And we haven't had any rain in over a week so this is good for our yard.
  • The presence of God: I am thankful that God is everywhere. He is here, in my home, and He cares about me. He knows every trial that is happening in my family and extended family. He knows what my teen daughter is dealing with. He sees my youngest and her needs. And He cares. He is in control. We ask Him to continue to take control over our situations and our family's.

What about you?
What are you most thankful for this week, or today??

Sending a hug your way today. :)

I've been under the weather for 10 days, and the devil sure does try to discourage us when we're not feeling our best. Praise the Lord, we are victorious through Christ! :)

:( I am sorry you aren't feeling well!
:) But I am glad you are still able to find things to be thankful for!

Today, I am thankful for God's provision. My husband got some overtime today...which is a blessing. And I am thankful I have a husband who is willing to work hard.

Blessings!
Praying for you,
K

Big hug for you Faith, I hope you feel better really soon. I will pray that the Lord helps you to sleep. I hate it when I can't sleep!
My poor son once was crying because he could not sleep. I said, oh no don't cry your nose is gonna get plugged up. He laughed and then I said, You should pray for everybody in your family. Start with your Mom and Daddy... and he said, okay. It was not even five minutes when I peeked on him and he was sound asleep! Just like the Lord's disciples! :-) I do fall asleep when I pray too. I think He just makes us so comfortable when we visit, that its natural to just go to sleep.
Most thankful this week for praying friends like you. Thanks for remembering me when I had to learn to give Mom a shot!
Your friend,
Connie
