Highlights from Thanksgiving Vacation

Here are some highlights, in pictures, of what was happening around the T---family beach house in Cape Cod. Some of you wanted to know exactly where the beach house is. Well, I cannot give out details but...it is near Cape Cod, MA......very near where the very first Thanksgiving took place!

Part of the clan serving at the church soup kitchen
Grampa T., Courtney, Hanna, Beth

The man receiving food is not one of the soup kitchen clients. Note his apron. It is my husband because the head of the soup kitchen insisted that we eat some of the food! And my hubby is not one to pass up great food!! My 16 yr old, Courtney and her older cousins were relieving me and my sisters-in-law so we could get some water and food. It was a great way to spend Thanksgiving Day! We really enjoyed interacting with the clients and serving them a great meal prepared by various members of that particular church. What a way to see how very blessed most of us are!!

My 10 year old and her favorite dog.

"Daisy" has always been a part of Claire's life. She was just a puppy when Claire was just a toddler. Our first year at the beach house was 2000 and Claire was only 1 1/2. This dog is a great dog. She belongs to my husband's brother and his wife, Kathy. We love Daisy! Claire is resting after an afternoon of serving the poor.

"daddy Dave" and Claire

While we were waiting for the Thanksgiving Feast to be done, (we had ours on Friday!), Dave and Claire played a game of chess. One of my nieces taught Claire how to play and she beat her 9 year old cousin Ronnie! (he is really great at chess...so she was thrilled). She plans on teaching me this game as I have never learned. It warmed my heart to see my husband spending time with our 10 year old. Being at the beach house this year was very relaxing for us! It is a bit different in November than in August or early September. At those times we are often entertaining friends and keeping busy with the kayaks! (it is still relaxing but in a different way!). This long weekend was just for reading, resting, reflecting and allowing our spirits to be restored.

Beth, Hanna, Courtney

This picture is great! The 3 teenagers all jumped up from our Thanksgiving Feast on Friday afternoon and began to wash some of the dishes by hand as they knew the dishwasher would be too full to hold everything. I couldn't believe how well they worked together! Beth, 19, is our niece and my husband's brother's daughter. They live in MA. She attends college in Maine. Hanna, 18, is our niece and my husband's oldest sister's daughter. They live in CA. And of course Courtney is our 16 year old.

Backyard beach house rose

How thrilling for my husband and I to spy this tiny rose along the walkway down to the beach.
This is the first time I've seen them in bloom this late in November! Notice the bright color against the deadened leaves and twigs.....reminded me of the Rose of Sharon (Jesus) and how He brings the brightness to our days when we are feeling down......I love finding Him in nature!

So...how was your Thanksgiving? What did you do?

Sounds like it was a lovely Thanksgiving Faith!

It was business as usual for us as our Thanksgiving is in October. But I did manage to get a few Christmas presents bought.

Sounds wonderful Faith! Love all the "R's" Resting, relaxing, reading, restoring. They all sound perfect for a Thanksgiving break. Love the pic of Dave and Claire playing chess, that is a keeper. :)
