Blooming Where Planted!

When I walked downstairs this morning and looked out my living room windows, I was amazed that these 2 plants were in bloom!  Overnight!!
The funny thing is:  I did not expect them to do well this year.  This part of my front flower bed was rather bedraggled all autumn and of course with the start of spring, I was much too busy getting ready for Paris to put time into my plants.
BUT.....I had planted these iris' from another area in the yard late last summer thinking they would never bloom.  They did!  And..they are early...usually my iris' don't bloom until the beginning of June.
And the pink begonias (I think those pink flowers pictured above are called begonias) are leftovers from a potted plant I was given by a student last June.  Again, I never expected it to bloom where I transplanted it.

And...on this bright, sunny, spring day, I opened up a little devotional book that my mother gave me for Mother's Day.  It is all about flowers and gardens.  The title is "Bouquet of Blessings".  And the devotional for the first day was centered around "bloom where I am planted"!  How cool is that?

Don't you just love how the Lord uses everyday things (like my purple iris and little pink flowers) to show us a picture of how He loves us?

Before the Lord created the Garden of Eden, He knew us.  We were in His plan!  He knew just what our talents and giftings would be so that we can "bloom" where we are "planted".

He also knows what pruning needs to be done, what weeds need to be pulled and what nurturing is required for us.  No one else takes our place in His garden!

We need to reflect God's Love that He (graciously!) gives to us.

We might not know how we will "bloom" or even where we will bloom.
But.....by staying firmly rooted in His Word and being established in His Love, we will be able to grasp how wide, deep, and high Jesus' love is for us....and in turn, we can extend it to others.

Let's bloom where we are planted this week.

on another note:

For those of you who are prayer warriors, I am asking for some prayer for 2 different situations:

  • physical healing and comfort for the mother of one of my oldest daughter's classmates.  The mother has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and the chemo begins this week.....please pray that the Lord will bring peace to her, if not a physical healing....she is a churched person but I do not know what her spiritual condition is (don't know if she is born-again).
  • For God to restore something that has been lost to me. I cannot go into details...it involves other people....but....it has been counseled to me to try to bring restoration, thru the love of Christ.  I have tried many different approaches....nothing seems to be working and yet the people closest to me who know of the situation keep telling me it is the Lord's will because the Lord is the One who orchestrated this particular thing to begin with.  I know this sounds vague but I really cannot go into details.  Please pray that restoration will occur......and that the person's heart will be softened and that the principles we are currently learning about from our pastor will take  hold in the hearts of all of us involved.
THANK YOU, FRIENDS and Sisters in Christ!!!!

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds."  Hebrews 10:23 & 24

"Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.  Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you."  Ephesians 4:31&32

Oh Faith you are so right, God can teach us SO many lessons in the flower garden! God has spoken to me many times over the years while I have been planting flowers, or simply pruning them or enjoying them! :) Bloom where you are planted!!! Amen to that!
And yes you are right you are just as busy with the arts side of things. :) Us moms, just enjoy our kids activities don't we!
And you with a sign like that in a car....who would have thought! :) Ha Ha

I love when God teaches us lessons through those things around us!

I can't believe you already have a rose and a beautiful one at that. We went today and picked flowers for the beds, my Mother's Day present from Dave.

I think that pink flower is actually a Sweet William, the perrenial variety. Begonias have very different leaves from that. Whatever the case, I love them. I need to start putting in more perrenials.

I love that expression, "Bloom where you are planted." (And a pretty object lesson!)

How neat that your Mom gives you Christian literature--on Mother's Day! She must be a believer... what a treasure. :~D
