Time for this:
Susanne, of Living to Tell the Story, is our fine host. I love Susanne. I like that if I have a prayer request, and send her an email, she will pray. It is good to have friends who don't mind lifting up our prayer needs. I am so thankful for that!
Other things I am thankful for this week, which have made my Fave Five list(although I have many things I am thankful for!) include:
my daughters volunteering to wash the cars last Saturday afternoon. I think they enjoyed the 82 degree temps and fun in the sun, too! :)
my lilac bushes in bloom!
They seem early this year...maybe because we had such a mild winter, here in the Capital Region of NYS. I have 2 small lilac bushes which replace 2 large ones that got destroyed about 4 years ago. This one is doing exceptionally well. Both bushes are light lavender blossoms...my fave....
This sunny spot to sit and read/write/meditate.
Usually there are 2 of these chairs and a small table in-between. My youngest daughter was using the other chaise and the table broke last summer. I still haven't replaced it. That is on my "to-do" list for this weekend! I like to sit in the late afternoon sun here and relax before cooking dinner. There were 2 days this past week where I had a chunk of time to just sit, sun, and savor my Savior.....I love having my quiet times out in nature!
My new dessert.
My family loves it when we have ice cream in the house. My husband and 2 daughters have a big bowl almost every evening after dinner. We like getting the "flavor of the week" at a local dairy shoppe that sells ice cream made right in Saratoga Springs, about 20 minutes north of us. However, I like the light ice cream or frozen yogurt and everyone else likes the high fat kind. SO.....because I can't see spending the money for the low fat kind on just me, I decided to stop eating ice cream in a bowl and putting just 1 scoop in a non-fat cone. YUMMY...it satisfies my ice cream craving and doesn't give me added calories. Now I just need to get my husband to try my technique :)This Scripture!
I have struggled a little bit this week in regards to someone who has been "mean-spirited".....it has left me feeling a bit crushed and sad in my heart. Especially because I thought the person was more spiritually mature than the fruit I currently see. It makes me sad. BUT....this verse is a promise, isn't it? He is near to me! YES, HE IS! I still hear His Voice, I can still engage in my prayer journaling, I can still walk in His Ways...and I can pray for the other person who also hurts (although might not be at the admitting it stage). Either way.....it is good to know that God is near when we feel sad and crushed in spirit! I just want to be represent Christ well in my thoughts, actions towards others, and in my overall daily life..... I am so glad the Lord offers mercy and grace....and for that......I am most thankful! What about you?

Love that scripture.
Your little backyard spot looks peaceful in the sunshine. I have a favorite backyard spot too. It must smell lovely right beside your lilac bush.
The one scoop in a cone rather than a big bowl of ice cream is a good idea. I'll have to give that a try.
I'm thinking of you relaxing in that chair, smelling the lilacs, eating your one scoop cone (good discipline!) and being comforted by the Lord during your prayer time. His love is the best!
Yes, Susanne, that is a great Scripture...I like the photo, too!
Brenda: yup....with spring, you'll find either me or my daughters washing one or both cars....and the ice cream one scoop plan is working for me! Give it a try!!
IslandSparrow: well, I'd rather be in your neck of the woods for my prayer time....I am the Naturalist spiritual temperament...and those pics of your woods and PEI are just stunning. I told my husband, we MUST get to PEI before our oldest graduates from college.......we'll see what happens!
ONE scoop of low-fat ice cream in a small low-fat cone... now there's a plan.
LOL, I don't dare have ice cream in the house... e-Dad's downfall. I'm trying to employ the French Women Don't Get Fat techniques of small portions, lots of variety. Sounds like you are too!
Love those lilacs!
Will your girls come over and wash my cars??
That is a good Scripture verse to meditate on especially under the circumstances.
Happy Mother's Day!
I LOVE ice cream cones!
That is such a reassuring verse -- love it.
Any day kids will wash cars for you is a good one.
Happy weekend!
Lilacs (especially the light purple ones) are my all time favorite flower! I am blessed to have a whole row of lilacs in my front yard.
Thanks for the scripture....I know someone who could be very encouraged by it this week.
