February Fave Five #3

It's Friday and I'm exhausted.

It's been a tough week, physically......I've been dealing with lower back pain due to injuring it from shoveling 2 weeks ago.  It's hard to find blessings when dealing with pain.  BUT....the Lord did bring blessings and HE IS FAITHFUL AND GOOD!  And there are no coincidences with God.  Our pastor is currently doing a sermon series on Dealing with Pain (physical or emotional) and it has been an amazing series.....and I get to apply some of the principles and truths this week while trying to wait for a healing for the back!  So....although a tough week (because I didn't call in sick...I did teach all week and thank God I only work part time!).....I CAN find Five Faves that God placed in my life.  A big THANK YOU to Susanne who hosts this each week....to play along, simply go to her site and follow the directions!

  • NATURE'S SPA EUCALYPTUS HEAT WRAP:  this wrap (mine is khaki) is perfect for relieving sore muscles and achy backs.  My friend Kathy P (and maid of honor 20 years ago!) gave this to me when I was pregnant for my first daughter in 1993. The soothing scent of the eucalyptus, and the warmth from heating it in the microwave (only takes 1 minute!) is like a balm for sore muscles and achy backs.  It also works on headaches.
  • CHOXIE TRUFFLES:  Dark chocolate-chocolates.  Heart-shaped.  Dave shared. Yummy!

  •  LUNCH DATE!  Dave and I had a much needed lunch date on Saturday, rather than going out for a Valentine's Dinner on a "school nite".  I loved the time we spent talking....we really needed to do this and it seemed to really charge me for the week ahead.   We also bought a brand new mattress...our first one in 21 years....it gets delivered later today so tonite will be our first night to sleep on a memory foam Englander mattress.....I cannot wait!! I think it will really improve our sleep.

  • PSALM 62:  for some reason I found my self meditating on this Psalm this week.  I found this picture with the first verse from that Psalm.  It just makes me pause and give glory to God for his Word and His Creation.

  • PRAYING FRIENDS:  I sent a quick text to my friend Monica.....she only got part of it so called me.  She needed me to pray for her. (for a family situation)....and I needed her to pray for me.(for physical healing)..and yet we didn't know that about each other!  When she called, I thought she was just answering my text...but...she called for prayer.....we ended up praying for each other....and then another friend, Lynn texted, asking for prayer (physical healing and another family situation).....I was glad to pray.....and glad to receive prayer!  And then later that evening, when I texted my friend Erin, she said she'd pray, too!  How good God is to surround us with friends who are willing to drop everything and pray!  We can lift each other up, encourage each other, and edify each other with Truth!  Always a fave!!

Friends, prayer, good quality chocolates, time with hubby, and warm wraps.....again, all simple things but things that God blesses us with to help us get through another week......

Have a great weekend, everyone!!

I'm with you on prayer - I've had several friends to lift up this week and I know they pray for me too. A sweet blessing!

I like that wrap - never heard of it before but I'll look for it.

I got a heartshaped box of chocolates too - yummy!

Hope you get a chance to rest this weekend - and your back is feeling better soon!

Praying friends are an absolute blessing! Sorry about your back pain, I will pray for you too. I love heat packs and I have a herbal scented neck pack that really helps. Your new mattress will probably help out too.

Chocolates made my list too! Gotta love a good chocolate.

I agree with you that it’s hard to find blessings when you’re in pain. But you did it! What a blessing that you’re having a sermon series on just that thing. Enjoy that new mattress.

I’ve been meditating a lot on Psalms this week too. Love Psalm 62!

"Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us."
Psalm 62:8

I hope your back is feeling better, Faith. OUCH!

That's a wonderful photo of you and Dave... a handsome couple!

We're in the market for a new mattress too... seems like it's the last thing on one's list of priorities... until a back injury.
Our current mattress is just plain worn out!

Thanks for sharing the testimonies of God's wonderful love, Faith! Take the time to heal. Back injuries can sometimes take a while to mend.
Here is an awesome scripture to think on:
"He stirs up the sea with His power, and by His understanding He breaks up the storm. By His Spirit he adorned the heavens; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent. Indeed these are the mere edges of His ways, and how small a whisper we hear of Him! But the thunder of His power who can understand?" Job 26 12-14
To think just how awesomely big and powerful and majestic our God is and yet, He is concerned and in the smallest details of our lives...I have been pondering the fact that when I pray, He is there listening to me and He does amazing things when we ask Him. Oh how deep and how wide and how long is His love for us...Praying my friend! <3

That snow will do it every year. I hope you get relief from your back pain soon. What did we ever do without texting in the old days? lol, so glad it brought 4 prayer sessions together for you.

Oh, those heat wraps have been such a blessing to me many times - and chocolates or time alone with my husband can do the trick, too.

I'm glad you found the scripture you needed, and the prayers of a friend. God is good.
