Closets, Coconut, Color and Cold.......

I have the day off today, as do my daughters.....it's a "workshop" day and is optional for me! Before my day gets going, I want to share my favorite things, that I like to call God's blessings, from this past week.  This is hosted by Susanne from Living to Tell the Story......head over to link up your list of Fave Fives!

  • This over the counter medicine!  My 12 year old had a fever all last weekend that we thought was going to be strep. The strep was negative, praise the Lord, so the doc said keep her home one day, rest, fluids, and this stuff every 6 hours....it worked!  Her fever came down sooner than with regular Tylenol and her congestion dissipated so she could sleep better at night.  We are thanking God for this because next week she is in her school musical!!

a Watercolor by the artist Loren Blackburn
  • Fine Art:  A watercolor painting.  This scene depicts one of my very favorite spots on Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park (Maine).  The Blackburn Gallery is about an hour north of me and I bought this a couple of weeks ago. Picked it up Saturday and it was hanging in my living room by Saturday evening......our first piece of real fine art.  The price was reasonable and the gallery owner helped me choose the right shades for matting and frame for my decor......I LOVE it!! This pic doesn't do it justice...it is soooo much nicer in person...wish you all could come and see it!
Centerpiece in dining room
Wooden speckled eggs

Basket in kitchen of sparkly Easter eggs
  • Easter Decorations!  I started putting out some baskets with eggs and my Resurrection cross.....soon I'll add some other fun spring and Easter decorations.....always nice to put away winter decor and get out fresh items!

  • Chocolate-Coconut Eggs!  I don't buy candy for our home except at Christmas, Valentine's and Easter (and once in awhile for a party).  We didn't buy much candy this year for the first 2 holidays and for Easter this year we are not doing much either...but when I saw these for the first time on Tuesday, I just had to try them.  I've allowed my self to enjoy one a day.....and no one else likes them so I think this will be my own special treat....because hey...every woman needs a little chocolate now and then, right??

Clothes for Salvation Army

  • PURGING MY CLOSET! Thursday afternoon, after work and a hair appt. I decided to go through my closet and get rid of anything I hadn't worn in over 2 years....I got rid of 7 fall/winter sweaters, 3 summer shirts, a summer dress, a couple of sweatshirts.  I threw away 2 pairs of hole-y socks.  It sure felt good to get rid of stuff...and now I have a good excuse to buy a couple of new shirts and a dress! :)

That's it for me....nothing super special this week but they're little treasures that made my week run smoother or helped manage my home.....

how about you?  What is one favorite thing from your week???

ENJOY THE WEEKEND!!!!!

Glad your daughter did not have strep after all! I love your eggs. I guess it’s that time again. I need to get mine out now instead of waiting until Easter is almost here. Great job in purging your closet. Another something I need to do.

Enjoy the weekend!

Coconut eggs...yum!

I find it refreshing to purge and then pack away the winter decorations and take out spring ones. Even though we still have snow on the ground. Your art is lovely and extra special because it's actually a place that you love.

Glad your daughter is feeling better and that she didn't have strep.

We just discovered the Hershey's Coconut Kisses and they are wonderful, too. Now I'm going to have to hunt after those Dove eggs!

One day this past week, my three-year old spent all day saying she wanted to see a rainbow, and then that evening while she was in the tub, I noticed the light change in the house after a light rain, and I thought, "Perfect conditions for a rainbow" - Sure enough, there was a BEAUTIFUL rainbow out the window. I grabbed my dripping wet daughter out of the tub, and we just stood and "oohh"ed and "aaaahh"ed at the rainbow and how good and thoughtful God is. It was a sweet, shared moment for me and her and our magnificent God.

Glad your daughter is ok. Whoa closets! Great you mentioned that as I also need to purge mine. About Black Swan - I wouldn't let a 12-year old watch it. There are other inspiration out there besides a movie like BS (no matter how good the dance and music in it are).

Lots of good stuff this week, Faith! Glad you are enjoying a rested daughter, beautiful art to remind you of a beautiful spot, and Easter preparation goodness (I love chocolate and coconut!) -- and a more streamlined closet! Happy weekend!

I'm glad your daughter didn't have strep and that she should be well enough for her performance.

The painting looks nice! One of my dearest friends spends summers in ME and my husband has been wanting to go there some day -- we've heard ME is so pretty.

I am hoping to get Easter decorations out in the next day or so.

Love the feeling of a freshly purged closet!

Isn't it great to have a painting that means something special to you--a place or an artist? Every time you look at it, you'll add to the memories.

I'm relieved your girl is ok now. Enjoy your relaxing day!

"I'm awake, I'm alive..."! I got a kick out of your recommendation to turn speakers down. Love that teen music!! Great message.

Glad your girl is better! And I need to attack my closet...

Have a great week ahead.

Coconut is my weakness. I know I'll be searching those eggs out this week! I'm glad you're daughter is doing better. I have a little one with bronchitis right now, and I feel so bad for him.

the painting is beautiful. I hope it makes you happy every time you look at it - and your decorations are nice, too. I put ours out last week.
