Crocuses shooting up through the front flower bed 16 March 2011 |
Today when I arrived home from teaching, it was about 1 pm and the sun had just come out after a rather gloomy, grey, and rainy morning. It was starting to warm up....which felt so nice!
I took my camera outside when I spied some GREEN in my front flower bed. The tulips and crocuses are beginning to shoot up. I am hoping the rabbit didn't get as many tulip bulbs this winter as he did last year.....I love tulips!!
At any rate, I took a couple of pictures and decided it was time to take down all signs of winter in my home and begin to decorate for spring and start with some Easter stuff. Decorating for spring made me think of the approaching Easter season. For so many people, it is just another holiday. And that makes me sad. For me, as a Christian, it is probably what I consider to be the biggest(i.e. the most important) holiday in our faith. This is the day we celebrate that Jesus is alive!! He sprang out of the grave, to live eternally....and we can too! He is our Redeemer!!!! And He did it out of Love for us......
I had to brush away several pieces of old mulch (you can still see alot of old mulch in the pictures above...I don't replace it until the end of April) and broken twigs that had fallen off the cherry trees so that I could get a good glimpse of the greenery poking through the ground. I am trying to coax these flowers into growing....Jesus didn't need any coaxing to rise from the grave, did He? He just did it! He is alive!! It is so mind-boggling when we think about the fact that He died a horrible death on a Cross. No one else in this world has ever risen from the dead. This is what sets our religion apart from all other world religions. I cannot imagine my life with out my Lord, Savior, Redeemer, Friend. How I praise God for His Son!! We can have New Life without much coaxing....we just need to accept the Gift of Salvation and believe Him, His Word, follow Him and repent when we sin.
That really puts a spring in my step.....how about you??
Coming up soon......what God has shown me about friendship and falling away....

Hi Faith, I did the same thing today. As soon as the sun came out, I took a walk around my house to check what was going on in the borders and sure enough, the crocus, daffodils, hyacinth and iris are all starting to come up. What is it about seeing new growth springing up out of the ground that brings on such excitement and hope. I agree with you about Easter; actually it was on Easter that I gave my heart to Jesus and became saved many years ago so every Easter marks two very important occasions for me. Take care!
Rosie: that's great that your spiritual birthday is on Easter...New Life for sure!! thanks for sharing!! and happy spring! (finally!!)
I'm not quite there yet... spring still seems a distance away yet. So glad you're thinking about the joy of Easter already!
It's finally starting to get sunny and warmer around here too, although no green shoots yet. I love Easter for all it's significance and hope.
I love tulips, too.. they are my favorite flower. And I'm like Rosie - Easter is my spiritual birthday! I asked Jesus into my heart at the age of 5 following a passion play at my grandparents' church and my life has been changed ever since!
Thanks for sharing your testimony Kimberly! my oldest daughter asked Jesus into her heart at the age of 6 1/2, the nite before Easter after I read her a special Easter book about the resurrection, etc. GOD IS GOOD!
