FOR TODAY 17 October 2011

Outside my window... bright, blue sky with puffy clouds; crisp, cool autumn-like temps, golden sun playing hide and seek with the clouds!
I am thinking....of what to make for dinner tomorrow evening
I am thankful...for the golden sun and the way the trees are beginning to show the peak of the season
From the learning rooms... well, I don't homeschool, but since I work as a special education teacher, assisting in a primary integrated classroom, I will share about what I am helping the group of 1st and 2nd grade special needs boys with: character word of the month is "respect"; fire safety; cooking tools/manners and preparing a special luncheon for invited guests; math fact families; prediction books including Who, What, Where, When, Why in our writing; handwriting; reading and the 2 different sounds the vowel "o" makes.
I'm wearing...my work clothes: burgundy pants, white knit sweater, burgundy/silver scarf, silver tennis bracelet, silver teardrop hoop earrings, brown suede clogs
I am creating... a photobook (via snapfish) from 2009 ...yes, I am that far behind! and putting together a care package for my oldest daughter (Courtney) to send to her at Gordon College (she is a freshman there).
I am going...to a dinner at church tonite, for all small group leaders, with my husband (because I could choose someone to go with and he is my prayer partner!)
I am wondering...how my youngest will do in her pointe class tonite...her first one with the advanced class!
I am reading... Faith in the Halls of Power (Christian nonfiction by the president of Gordon College!) and The Beach Trees (fiction) by Karen White
I am hoping... all 7 women in my small group will be able to come on Thursday evening for our next meeting and discussion
I am looking forward to...visiting an Amish shop on Saturday in Central NY
I am hearing... my youngest (age 12) practice her violin....it sounds beautiful...and the hum of the dryer...and blue-jays out at the feeder.....
Around the house... a load of laundry is in the dryer, vacuuming the bedrooms is waiting to be done, and I just finished emptying the dishwasher.
I am pondering... Chapter 1 of Parenting with Purpose and Grace and the lesson I'm going to present on Thursday evening
One of my favorite things... windows open in late autumn afternoons letting fresh air blow through the house
A few plans for the rest of the week: work, running errands (groceries, a library trip to pick up a book waiting for me, a run to the Fresh Market for fresh produce), taking my daughter (Claire) to and from ballet, teaching/leading the small group on Thursday evening, movie night with Claire on Friday evening, a visit to a Central NY Amish shop on Saturday with Claire and my sister, Hope, a special dinner to welcome my husband home on Sunday night after he spends the weekend on a youth group leaders retreat.
