Wow.
This book was.......quite the book.
It took me almost half-way through it to really "get into it".
Yet, I kept going because my husband and oldest daughter, along with several good friends, all said it was excellent. And it was. But, not until about page 430 in my opinion!
Seriously.....it was a little more than half-way through when I finally began to feel like "finally, this story is going to get exciting and wrap up all these loose ends."
This book is the 3rd and final one in the Millennium series. It is a fantastic series but.......I will be honest with you: it is not for everyone and definitely has some very graphic scenes in all 3 books but most especially in books 2 and 3.
The story is set in Sweden around 2003-2007.
It centers around several main characters, the 2 most important being Mikael Blomvkist and Lisbeth Salander.
This series takes alot of emotional energy and at times I found books 1 and 3 to just plod along until almost half-way through. Book 2 was a slow start as well but seemed to gather more energy sooner.
This series should be read in order but if you cannot read all 3 of them, definitely do NOT read the last book shown above unless at least #1 OR 2 has been read. The main plot just continues in each book.....and there is a story within a story in Book 1.
I highly recommend this series if you like drama and action-packed excitement.
WARNING: this book series should be rated "R" for mature themes and graphic depictions of violence against women/children. I do not recommend this novel for students under the age of 17.
I don't really wanna get into the summary of the book because it has left me with just depleted energy. It was excellent and yet disappointing in some ways. Disappointing because the author has died and these characters are such that I would love to read about them further......so...I must be content to let Book 3 lie in my mind ......I am glad I stuck with the book because the last few chapters were by far the very best!
My favorite book from the series was the first one (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
I am now on to much lighter reading and finishing up the parenting book for my small group study.
What have you been reading over the holidays?
My husband bought me a Xmas gift book about an autistic girl who cannot speak yet writes profound poetry. I cannot wait to begin that one!
Did you receive some books for Christmas?

I have not been drawn to this series at all. Not even the movie.
I received a book called "The Touch" by Randall Wallace, the same guy who wrote the screenplay for Braveheart and Secretariat. Starting that today. Sounds really good!
