Daybook for End of July

I'm participating in Peggy's Daybook writing exercise.  Join us over at her site.

FOR TODAY 30 JULY 2012

Outside my window...a gorgeous mid-summer day:  blue sky, puffy white clouds, the sun sparkling on the ocean and a cool breeze......

I am thinking...  of how excited my youngest daughter is to be going with daddy to Fenway Park to see the Red Sox play tonite! She is 13 and hasn't been to the park yet.  It is a special daddy-daughter date!

I am thankful... for the blessing of being at the T-----family beach house and for my in-laws for allowing us to be here each summer for a wonderful week on Cape Cod.

In the kitchen... a large pitcher of iced tea for a late afternoon snack. My oldest and and I are heading out to dinner at a local place that features an outstanding outdoor dining room.  We will probably get fresh salmon or a light pasta dish with a large salad.  We will follow this up with dessert either at the restaurant or later, after a beach walk, at a fave ice cream stand.  It is nice to not have to cook and we really need this mother-daughter date before she heads back to college in 4 weeks!

I am creating... a cookbook for Courtney (my oldest, age 19)...this is an on-going project and won't be completed until near her college graduation in 3 years!

I am going... to walk on the beach tonite.  One of my very favorite things to do while here at Buzzards Bay.

I am wondering... if this back/leg pain will begin to ease up more as I continue the PT exercises.

I am reading...  Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. It is the 2nd book in the Hunger Games Trilogy and it is very exciting and fast-paced. I am also finishing up Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges. It is very convicting. I highly recommend it!

I am hoping... that this perfect summer weather lasts into the weekend!

I am looking forward to... our trip to Hyannis tomorrow.

I am learning... how to really find those blessings in every moment of every day.  And I'm finally writing more down.  I'd like to get to 1000 by the year's end.

Around the house... well...I'm at the beach house where I've done a load of laundry today and have done some light grocery shopping.  We are on vacation as a family so we don't do much work here.  It is a wonderful break.I did help my father-in-law get the kayaks and accessories down to the water's edge this morning!

I am pondering... the Scriptures found in Psalm 62...have been chewing on that psalm for a few days......

A favorite quote for today... "Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone"  author unknown

One of my favorite things...  listening to the surf late at night, hearing the cry of the gulls circling the bay in the early morning light.......

A few plans for the rest of the week:  a trip to a different part of Cape Cod where we've never taken the girls:  Hyannis and a tour of the Cape Cod Potato Chip factory, a walk along the seashore, and other touristy things;  back to our home near Albany, NY; an appointment at the PT and a pediatric appointment for my oldest; a family get-together on Saturday at my sister Hope's.

A peek into my day...
my reading spot for morning and late afternoon
Buzzards Bay, MA

How about joining in and sharing your day with us?

Hello Sister...My first day to your blog because of the simple woman. I would LOVE to hear the Ocean! Enjoy your oldest daughter! They grow and are gone so fast. Mine are all grown, married and I have 6 living grandchildren and 3 in heaven. My son is also deployed. God is so good to bless us with our children! ♥♥♥

Oh I think I would be spending a whole lot of time on that chair on the deck! What a blessing to have this getaway each year for your family!

I've been trying to do a cookbook for the kids too. It's way more difficult than I thought it would be because a lot of the stuff that is their favorites, I just make, no recipe.
