END OF NOVEMBER/BEGINNING OF DECEMBER FAVES

Yes, it is still Autumn.

Yes, we still have more leaves to rake up.  And the town has already picked up 12 bags!

Yes, we went away for Thanksgiving weekend. No, there were no mishaps.

Yes, the Christmas decorating has begun and the baking begins tomorrow!

No, we still don't have snow here in eastern NY.  Yes, they have some in the northern and western Adirondack mountains.

No, I am not done shopping (almost) and Yes, all the gifts I do have so far, are wrapped and some are under the tree.

Yes, I am participating in the weekly FFF hosted by Susanne.

  • Hiking Walk in the Park The morning after Thanksgiving, Dave and Claire (our youngest) wanted to go to brunch with Dave's youngest sister and her family.  Claire drove them up to the farm and my inlaws went with them.  That left Courtney and I back at the house in town.  We decided, since it was so warm and sunny, to do a walk on the town park trails.  Courtney had never been there!  What fun we had exploring the different parts of the park...the town river runs through it, and the walkways are so pretty.  These pics are just a few of my faves.  I'm thankful she and I had this time together.

  • HOLIDAY SOAPS:  On the way back to NYS Saturday, Courtney and I stopped at the Lee Outlets in the Berkshires and went to Bath and Body Works to take advantage of the hand soap sale.  My fave for Christmas is Winter Candy Apple.  We have it in the upstairs bathroom and oh my goodness it leaves your hands  soft and sweet smelling.  I'm thankful for good sales! (we bought 3 other winter scents, too for the half bath and kitchen).

In the Living Room....my new fave wall hanging

  • DECORATING!  On Sunday, Courtney and I started decorating for Christmas...our very fave holiday.  She put up the tree while I started in on the wall art.  And after the tree was up, I hung ornaments and then decorated the rest of the house.  I keep it pretty simple and next week I will have some photos. This weekend I will replace many of my hanging mugs in the dining room with my Christmas mugs.  I love decorating for Christmas!! I'm thankful the bulk of it is done!

  • MOVIE NIGHT! Since the four of us were at my inlaws home in MA for the long Thanksgiving weekend, I brought the movie that Claire (my youngest) likes to watch with me the first weekend of December.  Since she doesn't get to leave UNH until December 16th, I thought it would be fun to watch the movie with Grammy.  We made popcorn and the adults had rum drinks and we just had so much fun sharing the evening together watching this beloved classic. Even my husband and father in law popped into the living room to see the ending after watching their football game!  I'm thankful for family times.

  • PSALM 62! I'm going through a devotional this week that has an underlying theme of Sabbath rest.  And Psalm 62 was part of the reading.  It was just the first two verses but I ended up reading the entire Psalm as it's one of my favorites and it dawned on me that I really have come far in my Christian walk.  I realized that although I miss my dad terribly and it's only been 8 months ago today that he died, that I have such a calmness in my spirit regarding my parents being gone from this earth.  And do you know why?  because I know beyond a shadow of any doubt, that they are in HEAVEN with JESUS!  WHY do I know this?  because they were Christ followers and were born again.  There is such hope, peace and comfort in knowing this.  And we have the assurance, those of us left here on earth, that God really is our rock and strength.  He gets us through the trials and tears, the missing of the family members and friends who have gone on before us, and His Presence keeps us calm.  Chaos can be all around me but my spirit is calm.  I'm so thankful for His Word to us and for this Psalm speaking to me this past week.

That wraps up the week.

I hope you all have a great start to the month of December.....enjoy and embrace each moment and treasure the memories made.

So glad for the peace you are experiencing regarding your parents. We grieve but not as those who have no hope! Psalm 62 is one of my favourites. Have you ever heard Aaron Keyes sing his version of it? It's nice. And helps you memorize the words.

I enjoying "walking" with you on all your trails Faith! I've been sick the last week and a half so haven't gotten out or on my treadmill. Hoping to begin again this week.

I love all things Christmas - except wrapping presents- you're away ahead of me. but I'm determined not to leave it to the last moment this year!

Happy week!

We have probably the majority of the shopping done and most of what has arrived is wrapped. A good feeling! Glad you had a nice hike/walk with your daughter, and the movie night sounds fun, especially bringing it so Claire could see on on the traditional weekend. I'm afraid I can't do scented soaps - most soaps/perfumes, scented lotions give me a headache. But that sounds like a nice one! I love Christmas decorating, too, especially with the family.

Amen to the last one!

I love Bath and Bodyworks scents also. They're so nice to grab when they are on sale and then give to people along the way as needed. The only winter scent I do NOT care for is the peppermint one. Your apple one sounds great!

I just love the Berkshires. I almost never get there...it's so far away from me. It sounds like you had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. I love to decorate for Christmas as well.

I'm enjoying your anticipation for Christmas vicariously. Just have too much happening here to even start the shopping let alone decorate.
But my heart is full of Christmas!
I didn't do FFF this weekend but wanted to stop by to read yours.
