I've been reading through the book of Hosea in the Old Testament. I've also supplemented my reading with a daily devotional entitled Faithful Love.
Today's reading had me in Ezekiel as well.
And it brought me to pondering the word "Covenant" and "Faithful".
In Hosea 3 we learn that Hosea was ordered by God to go and buy back his wife Gomer (a prostitute and adulteress). Hosea didn't have to do this. But he chose to listen to God. He knew God to be faithful and true. He used his own money to buy Gomer and to love on her.
I thought "wow....he was faithful to her and she was so unfaithful to him".
How like us that is, right?? God is ever faithful to us yet we become unfaithful to Him at times don't we? If we're honest.
And yet.
God keeps his covenant. Just like Hosea kept his covenant with Gomer.
God keeps covenant with us even when we sin. His promise of always loving us, no matter what, doesn't fail.
God reaches out for us every single day. He does this through His Spirit...and His Son shed blood for us.....He bought us with His blood.....just like Hosea bought Gomer with his money...Jesus bought us with His blood shed on the cross and "redeemed" us from our sins. And He waits for us to run to Him when we've strayed. He's our Redeemer whose Covenant with us does not break.
We just need to believe.
God is so ready to keep covenant with us....let Him redeem you!

I love this post, Faith. It is so fitting and thought-provoking for a Sunday morning. God bless you. Have a good Sabbath.
I love the story of Hosea. It certainly shows how important covenant is to God and how He keeps pursuing us even when we CHOOSE to go the other way.
