February Faves

February, a short winter month, is something I'm thankful for and it has arrived!  And with it came some more snow for us....so now we have a total of about 5 inches!!  For most of January we had no snow and mild temps. Now it actually feels and looks like Winter.

and during this cold spell, I am pausing to find FIVE of my FAVE blessings from the week......things that made me smile and say "Thanks, God".

Won't you join me?  You can link up over at Susanne's site.

  • FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT!  My husband, oldest daughter (Courtney) and I decided to all hang out together Friday evening (most unusual for Courtney to wanna hang with us on a Friday evening) to watch the critically acclaimed Knives Out flick. We had heard it was a great cast (It was!!) and just so well done!  It didn't disappoint. I made a great big salad and homemade veggie pizza plus rum and cokes.  We all sat on the couch under warm blankets and just had a blast  watching this very funny movie.  It's not something I would have paid money for but Court has an Amazon Prime account so that's the venue we used. I'm thankful our young adult daughter hung out with us...we really laughed our heads off.  Laughter is wonderful.

  • HANDMADE CARD!  My friend Donna (we've been friends since kindergarten in 1965! although from about 1979-2011 we lost touch due to many circumstances ) sent me this beautiful homemade card with a handwritten note inside.  She has an amazing testimony.  I prayed for her for years....we used to walk to school together every single day from kindergarten through 6th grade and then she moved across the river (back where I grew up in central part of New York State). We reconnected about a year before my mom died in 2012 and she told me she had finally accepted Christ.  What rejoicing there was!  I'm so thankful we have kept in touch (she doesn't do social media any longer so we write letters back and forth and text).  We have plans to do lunch once I'm on Winter Break (she took early retirement from her finance job a couple years ago).  I'm so thankful for our friendship, her beautiful card and our unity in Christ.

  • CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY COCOA: I rarely drink hot cocoa.  It's just too icky sweet for me if it's the packaged kind and I don't like using my precious vegan cocoa for a drink....i use it for baking.  But for some reason I was craving a hot sweet drink so went to our tin of packets and saw this kind.  OH MY GOSH. Although it's not something I would want to drink every afternoon due to the sugar content, it definitely hit the spot on Sunday afternoon.  It was so good.  Not too sweet but the hint of raspberry with the chocolate was wonderful.  One packet, like shown above, is perfect for a very large mug.  In fact, that's basically what my lunch was on Sunday. I'll indulge every once in awhile and I'm thankful for this yummy choice.

  • SNOWY DAY!  Our preK special education agency decided we would work/teach from home on Tuesday due to the storm that was blowing in from Monday night. (we've already used 2 out of our allotted 3 snow days so the director didn't want to lose more funding so we taught via google classroom/meet) We received another 3 or 4 inches on top of the 3 inches we had already received last week!  Our neighbor totally blessed and surprised us by snow-blowing the bottom of our driveway while Dave shoveled out the top part.  I went out later in the day to tackle my car.  I have to say, although I no longer like driving in the snow, I do like watching it beautify the yards.  I'm thankful I live where I can enjoy all 4 seasons.
  • HIGHEST HONORS! We received word that Claire, our youngest daughter, and a senior at the UNH, has earned Highest Honors for the fall semester with a GPA over 3.85. We're very proud of all of her hard work. I'm thankful she had a good semester with a full load of classes plus some volunteer work. She has a full load again this semester plus 2 new apartment mates so there are 4 of them sharing space. I'm thankful the University has good covid guidelines in place and that they're testing students twice a week.  Hopefully we will actually get to attend graduation! I'm also thankful she is healthy and doing well so far.

That wraps up the things that brought a smile to my face this week.

I hope you all have a very relaxing weekend doing the things you love.

Sounds like a good week. Great news about your daughter. Congratulations to you all on that honor. You sure did a good job raising those two daughters! Mom win! That raspberry cocoa sounds yummy. I love hot chocolate, but, like you, I don't indulge very often. Hope you are staying warm in all that snow. Have a good weekend. See you soon!

I've wondered about that show. I have seen it mentioned but haven't checked into it. How sweet to get a handmade card and written note. Wonderful testimony about your friend. Congratulations to Claire!

That's a show I haven't heard of, but not unusual, I'm often a few years behind when it comes to television. I prefer my cocoa plain, with lots of whipped cream:) Congrats to your daughter!

Congratulations to Claire for her honor roll!
I'm not much of a hot chocolate drinker either (although you will read that I had a mug this week). Once in a while is enough.
I actually went out this afternoon and helped shovel the driveway with my grandson and my hubby. We called it grandson's PE time.
Enjoy your weekend!

Congratulations to your daughter! That is a very special thing and more so this year when everything is so COVIID-crazy. Chocolate raspberry cocoa sounds delicious. We had a snow day on Tuesday as well.

Congratulations to Claire. You must feel very proud - deservedly so. Yes that snow is pretty to look at and maybe play in with little ones but not for travelling or working in! Real letters are so nice to receive but rare these days. Movie night sounded fun. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Congratulations to Claire! That is amazing! Hubby and I have hummed and hawwed about that movie but have never bit the bullet on it because we'd have to order it on demand which means paying for it. And if we're unsure about a movie we'll wait for it to get to Netflix. That cocoa brand is my fave. I rarely have cocoa but the choc raspberry and the irish creme are my favorite flavors. I like Courtney's painting. Nice of your neighbor to help get rid of your snow. I love snow but ours came yesterday with a polar vortex so we're going to be getting some bitter cold. That I don't like. Enjoy your weekend.

Yay for Claire. Today I'm grateful I got in a walk out of doors before it was too snowy outdoors, a cozy and warm apartment and popcorn for a snack later today. Take care!
