Well, being sick with the flu is NOT how I expected to spend my Winter Break. Yup....Sunday evening, I came down with the chills, fever, body aches, congestion, runny nose, cough along with my husband......and boy did it hit us hard. Has been a long time (2004!) since I've had the real flu. As I write this, it is Day 4 of my break and Day 4 of being sick although today I think I've turned a corner. At least I hope so!
I'll try to find Five of the blessings in this past week but I must confess, it's kind of hard! But i know they're there....because there's always something to be thankful for. I'm linking up with other bloggers who find the blessings in the week. YOu can check out how to participate by clicking here.

- LUMINARY WALK! Saturday evening, after a day of housework, the girls and I headed to our fave state park and met 3 of my church friends there for the evening luminary walk. This was a park event and the volunteers putting it on did a superb job. We thought it was going to be the trail through the woods but nope.....it was the beach access road! There was a tiny bit of ice and snow once we got past the picnic area where the trail did enter the woods for about 1/4 of a mile and then there was the lit up bridge and the end of the walk. Total miles was only 3. We loved this. I'm thankful we got to go because I've always wanted to do one of these luminary walks but have never had the chance to go due to other obligations or being away or something. Very thankful for this time with daughters and friends!
- RELIEF: I'm not one to take a lot of flu meds because honestly they just mask the issue. The only thing that really works is lots of rest and lots of fluids. But this includes a fever reducer and it works for aiding sleep. Super thankful we had just enough to get us through 3 nights even though it was expired. Praise God it still seemed to work.

- FRESH CITRUS: Been eating these most of the week. Need to buy more this weekend. So thankful for the taste and relief they bring to coughs.
- TISSUES: I'm most thankful we had 2 extra tissue boxes in the bathroom cupboards because we literally went through one and half boxes this week.
- CANNED SOUP: I'm thankful we had a few of these in the house. I had no energy at all to cook. In fact, for two days all we did was drink lots of water or ginger ale (helps with scratchy throats and coughs) and eat toast. When I finally knew I needed some nourishment, this was all I could handle. It's packed with sodium and we don't eat canned soup much as I prefer to make homemade but wow when you are as sick as we have been, you are thankful for Campbells!
That wraps up my week. Nothing exciting but just simple things to be thankful for that helped us get through this flu!
Come back next week for a big announcement!! (sh......to the people who already know!!)
Have a restful weekend

Oh you poor things. Flu is horrible to have. I'm glad you had supplies at home to help you over the worst. I hope you can rest up over the weekend and hopefully start feeling better soon.
Oh, Faith, I'm so sorry. I'm glad to hear that you are starting to turn the corner. My comfort food is Campbell's Homestyle Chicken Noodle soup. Yes, there's the sodium but sometimes I just ignore that part. :) I'm intrigued with the Luminary walk. It looks beautiful! It reminds me of a part of EPCOT at Disney World during the Christmas season. They have something similar and it's lovely. I hope you are feeling better soon.
Hi Faith. The luminary walk looks nice. So glad you could go before you got sick. I hope you are feeling better soon!
I'm so sorry you were sick on your break! You really got cheated :( But, you did a great job in still coming up with a list for FFF. The luminary walk sounds lovely.
The luminary walk sounds so fun. So glad you got to go with your daughters and friends.
I'm so sorry you've been sick! And on your break, too. No fun. I hope you have turned a corner and are getting better. I can't take decongestants due to heart rhythm issues, so I have to muddle though with just rest and Tylenol and soup, too. My husband loves Nyquil but isn't supposed to take it since he just has one kidney. I keep some instant cup-of-soup on hand that I love when I am not feeling well. It's sodium-loaded, too, but I figure once in a while can't hurt too bad.
