MARCH FAVES

It's finally March!  This winter actually flew by fast  for me because we were so busy with work, ministries, and social events.  I'm thankful it's March though because this is the month when Spring begins and the cold nights start to warm up a bit.

Let's pause in our busyness and give thanks for the blessings God brought this past week.  Here in the blogging community, some of us share FIVE of those blessings that make our FAVES list.  We then all link up at Susanne's site and read each others. Won't you join us?

  • HOT TEA:  I'm not really a hot tea drinker but for getting over the flu, this herbal tea has been excellent and is very yummy.  I'm super picky about tea and this one is perfect.  Just a little hint of sour lemon.....it's actually more sweet than sour......and it's very soothing for the sinuses. I'm thankful for good tasting tea and Targ*t had it on sale! I've been enjoying a mug after work or after dinner in the evening.

  • KOREAN SERIES/NETFLIX:  Last week I started watching this Korean television series on Netflix.  It's powerful.  It's gut wrenching. It's absolutely emotionally uplifting and sorrowful all at the same time. The little girl in the series makes my heart sing. I love it and am thankful for this important and very realistic story.  Highly recommend!

just the right amount to make everything pretty
  • DAY AT HOME:  Monday night into Tuesday morning, our area of New York finally got some Winter. It snowed!  It didn't amount to anywhere near where they were predicting...we measured just 3 inches of new snow.  But it was pretty and made the roads slick enough for school in person to be cancelled.  I had to log in anyways and teach via google classroom but everything went well and then the rest of the time I was able to do some lesson planning for the month of March. I'm thankful the snow came, as we could use the moisture, and that everyone was safe and that it wasn't a lot of snow.

Claire our youngest daughter at about age 15
  • HOUSEWORK HELP!  Claire came over Saturday before taking a fitness class where she also teaches classes part time after her day job.  She asked if there was anything she could do and since she was doing her laundry at our place instead of at her apt complex, I asked her if she'd mind vacuuming all the carpeting in the upstairs hallwaybedrooms/office?  She agreed.  She did a great job and even did the stairs!  I was so thankful because it was badly needed and I just wasn't feeling great yet from having the flu the week before.  I love when our young adult children come over to help us with something.  It's so appreciated.

  • PERSONAL DAY:  I have a personal day off from work today because at 2:45 AM this morning......er....middle of the night....I had to wake up, get Dave to the airport (only a 10 min drive) and then bring his car back and crawl back into bed.  Everything went well and as I type this, the missions team from our church, including Dave, are off to Guatemala for a week of working with families and Cross Culture Jesus down there. Our church helps to support CCJ financially as does my family.  I'm so thankful Dave has the chance to go back and help out this next week and I'm thankful I can get some much needed cleaning done around my home today.  I'm also heading out for a local hike because it is a gorgeous sunny, blue sky morning and our snow has quickly melted!

AND:  SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:  I informed my site supervisor at the special education preschool agency where I teach, along with informing the executive director in our Albany office, that I am retiring come the end of the school year proper (for us, that is the end of June).  I prayed, thought about the pros and cons and decided that even though I'm only 63, I am ready!  HUGE relief to have finally come to a decision.  Since Dave is 6 years younger than me, he has a ways to go before wanting to retire, so I will be doing all kinds of little projects around the house, volunteering in some ministries dear to my heart,  and doing some solo traveling as well. I'm really looking forward to this next chapter in my life!

That sums up my fave blessings from the past week.

What are some things that made you smile this week?

Congrats on your decision to retire! More time for reading and walks and whatever else you've been putting off!

It sounds like you're feeling better. I'll have to keep my eye out for that Yogi tea. My local supermarket has that brand but I'm not sure about the lemon. I still am struggling with my sinus issues. I'm willing to try anything!

I'm glad you were able to stay home on those snowy days. So much better than having to navigate icy roads.

Prayers and thoughts for your husband the team in Guatemala. What an experience that will be!

Have a great weekend, Faith.

I will have to try that tea. Nice that your daughter could help you out. My daughter brought all sorts of things over when I got Covid, luckily a mild case. Congratulations on your future retirement!

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! So much to look forward to!

My d-i-l watches some Korean program--I'll have to see if it is that one.

Glad you got some time at home. It's wonderful when our kids want to help at home, especially when they offer without being asked. I hope and pray Dave's trip goes well.

It's so good that you are able to retire. I know you will enjoy it! I know I am looking forward to just a little over three years from now when it will be my turn. Glad you had a nice week, and even got a teach-at-home snow day. I think it is so neat that Dave goes on those mission trips every year - what a wonderful act of service! So glad Claire came over and was willing to help out. That is really nice. I will have to check out that Korean show some time when I am looking for something interesting to watch. I hope you have a good weekend! See you soon!

Congratulations on your decision to retire. I stopped working in 2015 - not through choice but I was glad to get away from the pressures etc. I do feel I could be doing more with my time but it sounds like you have some good plans in place already so I'm sure you will will be fine. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Congratulations on your coming retirement! You will love those days of open schedules.
How sweet for your girl to come help with the vacuuming.
You did get hit with snow. I'm thankful with you that it has melted quickly. Now go enjoy that hike!

Congratulations on the decision and follow thru for your retirement. Hopefully the next few months go quickly! So nice that Claire came and gave you a hand, especially when you weren't feeling so great. We have snow predicted for a couple of days. I love snow but now at this time of year it's usually wet and heavy. Praying Dave has a wonderful missions trip.
