It's almost Easter! My very favorite holiday (along with Christmas).
I'm taking some time this morning to share FIVE of my FAVE blessings from the past week. These are things that made me smile or take notice....little things God brought to me. I link up at Susanne's spot where you can learn how to join in or read others' faves.
- STREAMING SUNLIGHT: One morning this past week, I caught the sun streaming in through the large glass deck doors in our family room which faces east. I loved how it lit up my Easter/Resurrection display. I'm thankful for sunshine and for the Son who came to rescue us and redeem us.
Palm Sunday morning |
- SPRING SNOW! Dave measured the snow in the driveway on Sunday morning at 4 inches. Thankfully we didn't get what 2 of my 3 younger sisters did....2 feet! The tricky part for us is that we first had a light dusting, then sleet and freezing rain....then rain..then sleet again...and finally the 3-4 inches of snow here in the Capital Region. As of Tuesday afternoon, most of is was completely gone from our yard (except to the right of this pic) and the deck was completely bare again as the temps climbed back up to more normal ones for the end of March. Life is never boring in New York! I'm actually thankful some of the areas to the north of us got some significant snow..the first for many...we need the moisture!
Moreau Lake Tuesday 26 March |
Snow on the beach |
Moreau Lake State Park |
- PEACEFUL PARK: Tuesday morning I had to drive about 35 miles north of our home to turn in our kayak applications for the new lottery system NYS is doing (we're assigned a number and if our number is chosen, we can have a spot on the boat racks come April 15-November 15. The cost is $95 per boat if we win a spot). Once I turned the paperwork in, the ranger told me the road down to the beach was open and that a path had been made for walking to the lake edge. I drove down and saw a few other cars in the lots and a few people walking on the paved parts of the park/lots. I decided to get some steps in so walked all 3 levels of parking lots and then walked the path to the lake. It was so peaceful and there was more snow (a foot) than when we were there for the luminary hike in February where it was a bare beach. It was starting to melt due to the warm temps and sunshine and I'm thankful I took the time to see the beach in snow.
Easter treats |
- EASTER EGGS! I fell in love with these Easter Egg bags when I saw them at Target and since I always get my daughters a few "treats" or surprises, I thought they'd be perfect. At ages 30 and 25 we don't do baskets obviously any longer but my youngest is a vegan and I happened to see some new vegan candy and treats in the store and my oldest still loves those peeps (YUCK) and Reeses PB cups in egg shapes. I also bought each girl a small devotional book and a magnet for their fridges that has the Scripture from Zephaniah 3:17 on it. I love getting fun things for my daughters and I'm thankful for the true meaning of Easter! Our Savior lives!!
- SHORT SHAG! I was trying to grow my hair out. I used to have long hair to my waist during my college years (until my student teaching when I got the cut everyone was getting in 1981...a long shag layered cut) For the last several months I've been growing out my short asymmetrical bixie cut thinking I was going to get my hair down to my shoulders. Well. People. I'm 64! I'm gonna look frumpy with my hair that long and because my hair is so thick, it's gonna drag me down. I also growing out the color to go all natural. So my stylist said (when I asked about the 2024 trends) that short shags are all the rage (as well as what the younger ladies want: the Farrah Fawcett look). She said anything late 70s and 80s is in. So.....chop away she did, after I showed her a picture of what I wanted......this is a fun short shag with lots of layers and all i have to do is shower, use some mousse and scrunch! I'm so thankful for my stylist and a new cut! It really brought a smile to my face especially since every day this week has been a bad cervicogenic headache day.
That wraps up my week.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend, celebrating our Risen Savior Redeemer!!

My whole life I've been a long hair wanna be. But I get it so far and then I can't stand it. LOL. Cute hair cut. I've always liked the shag look in all lengths. Love that is so low maintenance too. You guys got lots of snow too. Funny we both had that in our faves list this week. I love that reflection picture of Moreau Lake. You should make a canvas print of that. It's gorgeous! Sweet gifts for your girls. Happy Easter, Faith!
I got my longish hair cut earlier this month. It was beginning to annoy me. I love my just under the chin length cut now. (Story about shags: the night before my college graduation, I grabbed a pair of scissors and cut my long hair into a shag!)
You get so much more snow than we do. It is fun to walk in the snow as long as you have the proper boots for it. I'm glad you got to walk down to the lake.
Love the Easter bags!
Happy Easter! He is rien!
How fun that the 70s and 80s styles are coming back. I never did go for the shag. My hair is just too straight and much too thick. Your new cut is very flattering.
We've had a bit of snow (24" then another 11"). It has left the grass SO green and my daffodils are coming up now. So, hopefully we're done with snow. We'll see.
The Easter bags are so cute.
Happy Easter!
Hi Faith! Your hair is so cute. That cut looks great on you! I also really like your Easter display. I hope that you and your have a wonderful Resurrection Day! He is risen!
Low maintenance hair is definitely something to be grateful for lol. Have a lovely Easter celebration Faith.
That top picture is so neat with the son streaming on the resurrection display.
The Easter bags are cute.
I always wanted a Farrah Fawcett haircut, but mine was always too thin, fine, and straight to cooperate. I used to keep it shoulder length, (in high school it was sometimes waist length, in college usually past my shoulders by a few inches). Nowadays it seems to look best an inch or so above my shoulders.
