Today is Friday which means time to look for the blessings in the past week and share FIVE of my FAVES. I'm linking up at Susanne's site with other bloggers who find gratitude in their days.

- ROAD TRIP: Last Saturday, my oldest daughter and I surprised my husband Dave, with tickets to the Star Trek Original Series museum in Ticonderoga. Both Dave and Courtney are huge fans of all the Star Trek including the Next Generation (which I actually watched and enjoyed) along with the movies. Yes, there was a small section featuring Jean Luc Picard (my fave) but the bulk of the museum is a replica of being on the Enterprise with complete sets. Our tickets included a guided tour and the information we learned was astounding, especially in regards to how they made all those props and what they used to look "futuristic". I'm thankful we took the day to travel north (it's just under 2 hours northeast on the shores of Lake Champlain and Lake George). We also enjoyed a very late lunch/early dinner at the 1950s style diner in town before heading home. Dave was thankful we did this to celebrate his birthday.

- BIRTHDAY TREAT: Monday was my husband's 58th birthday (yes he is 6 years younger than me!) and I surprised him with a frozen ice cream pie. I was going to make one but remembered just how much work they are, so decided, since I had to get groceries that morning anyways, to pick up a frozen pie. I think we've only ever had this once before. We forgot how decadent it is. I'm thankful he enjoyed his stay at home birthday dinner: grilled salmon, garlic breadstick, salad, watermelon salad and the pie. He also was thankful to receive some nice cards and wishes from our daughters and a sister-in-law. I bought him the batting gloves he wanted. I'm thankful my hard working husband had a good day.
- CENTRAL AIR! This week has been very humid and super hot especially the last 3 days. I'm so very thankful for central air conditioning both in the house and in the cars. It's not something I want to take for granted.

- NEW iPHONE! My husband had yesterday off from work so we knocked off several errands that he had on a list for the last few weeks: he needed new hiking boots, so off to LLBean we went; then we had to go to Barnes and Noble to purchase a baby shower gift and finally we made our way to the Apple store in a different mall to get my new iphone. I chose the iphone 14 in blue and I love it. What an improvement over my very old iphone 8 and even though that phone is old now, I was still able to get $50 credit from it. We then went to best buy to get screen protectors and a case and had a quick bite to eat for lunch at a pizza place. We also had to stop at Lowes for some outdoor furniture polyurethane for Dave to use on my wooden Adirondack chair. I'm thankful we got a good deal on the phone and that our errands were successful.
- PHONE CHATS: I had 3 phone calls from 3 good friends this week....one I hadn't talked with in over a month. It was so nice to get caught up and share Scriptures with one over the phone and lift up prayer needs with the other friend. With the third friend, we were chatting about Kamala and the positive things we are hearing and seeing regarding her running for president. We also made plans to get together and kayak at some point now that it's August.
I hope whatever you have planned for August, that it's off to a good start!
The school where I was teaching for the last 5 years has summer school for another 3 weeks so I am hoping to pop over there one afternoon to see everyone before their summer break begins. I also have an overnight trip coming up with my oldest daughter, and youngest daughter and I have plans for a beach day in a couple of weeks. Dave and I have company coming twice this month and also have a baby shower to attend. It's going to be a busy summer month! We're also praying the weather gets a bit less humid.....we live in NYS not Florida yet July has felt like Florida!
HAPPY WEEKEND!!

I got very excited about your photos from the Star Trek Original series museum. And Ticonderoga! I'd love to see it. I am a Trekkie for sure but it's for the original series. I did enjoy a lot of TNG as well. I agree about Jean Luc. "Make it so."
I love to eat at those 50s diners. There was (and still probably is) a great on at Ormond Beach in Florida. Another good one is in the Pigeon Forge area of TN.
It seems that temps all over the country are rivaling Florida. Temps at my daughter's home are very similar to here in TN. I'm more than ready for autumn!
Have a great weekend.
Hi Faith! Happy Friday! Wow, that Star Trek museum looks pretty cool. I would love to go there! So glad you were able to get a new phone. I got an Iphone 13 a couple of years ago. That chocolate pie looks like a great birthday treat for your husband! I hope you have a good weekend!
I'm glad your husband had a nice birthday! That's a delicious-looking chocolate pie. I love anything chocolate! It's also been so hot and humid here in NC. The heat doesn't bother me as much as the humidity. I'm not a fan. It's actually storming and pouring rain as I type this. Thank goodness for AC! I need to update my phone, too. I still have the 8. I just need to take the time to go do it. I honestly don't like getting a new phone, but I know I eventually need to. My camera is not the greatest. Anyway, have a nice weekend.
I’m not a Star Trek fan, but your visit to the museum sounds really fun. It sounds like you have a lot of fun things planned for the next couple of weeks, too. enjoy!
Your day of errands sounds very productive and fun as well! I recently (this week) upgraded my phone. I was very content with my (very) old phone but someone else cracked the screen and so we went ahead with the trade...and I am so surprised how much I enjoy the newer version!:) I do think I need a screen protector, though!:) Happy August to you!
Belated birthday wishes to your husband. Sounds like he had a nice birthday with the outing and then the day at home. I love it when I have a list of errands that I manage to get all ticked off. You have a busy month ahead. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Hi Faith, I did not know there was a Star Trek museum. I was a fan of the original series and saw all the movies. Happy Birthday to your husband! That cake looks so good! I have an iPhone 8 and it has 37,000 pictures on it. I plan to get a new one before our cruise. I really like my home button and that is one reason I have not gotten a new one. My hubby has a 12 and it takes great pictures, no home button.
Enjoy your weekend!
My stepfather would love that Star Trek Museum! We're all Trekkies, but TOS is his favorite.
I love Marie Callender's frozen chocolate pie, too, only the kind with the regular pie crust.
I'd love to know how you grilled your salmon. I've never cooked with it, but my husband found some on sale last week and brought it home.
Your errand day sound very productive! I heavily depend on AC this time of year, too.
I am SO late commenting on FFF. Sorry. It has been a week...
I prefer pie for my birthday, too. And stay at home dinners.
AC was on my list this week too.
I was not so much into the original Star Trek but loved the Next Generation. I also loved the most recent movies based on the original series. But I would have still loved going to this exhibition because I remember my Dad watching the original. We went to the Star Trek exhibition at the Science Center just before covid and loved it. I failed miserably at the Kling On language station. LOL. The pie looks delicious. Happy belated birthday to Dave. Sounds like he had a nice day.
