Looking back on A Sunday Stealin'

It's a hot, back to high humidity Sunday afternoon, so i'm drinking ice cold sparkling water on the family room couch with the central air cooling down the house while husband is upstairs working on something in his office.  I enjoyed these "Sunday stealin'" questions, so decided to play along today. Join in or read others'  answers by heading to this blog hosted by ....i'm not sure who! 😎

Stolen from Follow That Dream

1. My bestie and I once ...

well, if you mean childhood bestie, we once climbed up the outside of our elementary school where we went to kindergarten and first grade and lay on our stomachs, on the lower roof, with pea shooters and shot "peas" to the passing cars.It was 1972. Pea shooters were a thing.  Yes, we were 12 and bored. My hometown village was super small with not much to do for pre-teens and teens until you received your license and could drive to the bigger city nearby.

2. When I'm nervous ...

I'm rarely nervous.  The only time I've been nervous to the point where I thought I was going to pass out, was the 2 minutes before I went on stage to begin my college (senior levels) piano recital. I had 35 minutes of memorized music and was performing pieces from each major musical era (my idea ).  The first piece was Andante Favori by Beethoven and was 10 min in length. I said to my friend Brian  who was behind the curtain with me  "I can't. I seriously cannot remember.  I cannot go out there" He said, to breathe, pray quick and let your piano fingers muscle memory take over".  I did. It worked. So....the only other time I was really nervous was when my husband was having a heart attack at age 48 and I was alone for a few minutes in the waiting room where he was getting a stent put in (before our pastor, Rex and his wife Debbie showed up).  I prayed. So to answer the question: I  pray.

3. My hair ...

is silver now.  and it's super thick. I love it. I do not like my hair cut so am growing it back out to a cropped French bob.

4. When I turn to the left, I see ...

Our coffee table, our dvd cupboard, our tv armoire, my african plant on the plant stand, and the deck/background out the sliding glass doors.

5. My favorite aunt ...

That's a hard one. i liked something about the 3 aunts I knew on my mom's side (one was estranged from the family and one died when she was a pre-teen). I also loved something about the 2 aunts on my dad's side (who married Dad's brothers).  But my absolute fave if I have to choose would be my great-aunt Mildred. I loved going to her little mountain house. I loved eating her cookies. I loved her iconic 1960s cat clock. I loved that she was kind, and quiet and hard working.

6. I have a hard time understanding ...

Why people who say they follow Christ, voted for the person who is currently "leading" our nation. I just.don't.get.it. Or why ANYONE would vote for him. It's mind boggling to me and perhaps we need to change the  conditions of just exactly what kind of person can run for the highest office in our land.

7. You know I like you if ...

I invite you over for dinner, a coffee,  or a bonfire; or I open up to you.

8. When I was 5 years old ...

It was 1965.  I was in kindergarten. Mom worked part time. She had me, my younger sister Joy (age 3), my baby sister Hope (age 1) and a foster child named Star she was caring for. I learned to climb the apple tree at camp when I was 5 and help my daddy build a bonfire in our stone firepit. I also started to take piano lessons. I could read in kindergarten and loved my books. I shared a bedroom with sister Hope. I had a short cropped bob with bangs. I had freckles and didn't need glasses yet. My hair was brunette with red highlights. I loved playing outdoors with Joy all.the.time. I had a red tricycle. I walked to school which was just 3 blocks down the street. I would meet my best friend Donna on the corner of the first block. We loved our teacher. I loved Bobby C a boy who lived on the hill behind the school. We went sledding together. He died when we were 12.

Here is a photo of me a few weeks after  I turned 5 holding my 4 month old baby sister Hope with Joy on our living room couch (she turned 3 the week after I turned 5). This is January 1965.

That's all folks!  Enjoy the rest of Sunday.

To no surprise, your answer to #6 would be mine. As a person of faith, it makes me @#$! nuts

Your hair looks so cute! I'm worried that my gray won't be as pretty as yours. As an old maid aunt myself, I hope my niece and nephew remember me as fondly as you do Mildred. And as for Christians for Trump, well, I'm with you there.
