Because Easter weekend is always busy for us, I am combining letters E and F today for the A-Z Challenge. My theme is Attributes of God and I chose for E the word Excellent and for F the word Father.
There was a time when I didn't see God as my Father. I only saw Him as Judge. There are reasons for that stemming from my childhood church environment but I won't go into that saga.
Fast forward to my early 30s and I received some much needed spiritual and emotional healing via a wonderful therapist and I learned to embrace God as my Heavenly Father. My own biological father was absolutely wonderful and it wasn't because of him that I only viewed God as a distant Judge. My actual daddy was just an amazing man.
But my Heavenly Father is most excellent. He loves us unconditionally!
Yes there is evil in the world.......It's because sin has consequences!
During my hard times, I have had to turn to God and although I have had questions like "Why this, God?" or "Why don't You stop all the evil?", I only sense that He is trying to teach us something that our human minds just cannot grasp.
It's in the hard times that we often seek God...for His strength, His Truth, His Love and His Peace.
One day we will see Him face to face and we will be embraced by our Heavenly Father who gives good gifts to us.
Do you view God as an Excellent Father? (and for some, He is viewed as a Mother).
Jesus used this metaphor of a hen gathering her baby chicks under her wing, to describe how God felt about His children in Israel.
I'm so thankful for our Excellent God!!
