It's the 2nd Friday of February and I for one am happy about that because it means in one week from today, as of 2 pm, I will begin Winter Break. Here in the Northeast, most of the public and private preschools - high schools go on a week long break. Personally, I'd rather work and get out a week earlier in June, but the time off IS a nice perk in the midst of winter.
Let's take a break now, and reflect back on the week to share FIVE of our FAVE blessings. Mine seem to be just little things this week but I'm thankful for them as each one brought a smile to my face. You can do this, too, by heading over here to Susanne's site and linking up.

- QUIET BREAKFAST: Saturday morning, I got up long before Dave and Courtney. I had "slept in" which for me, is about 7 a.m and so I made a pot of coffee, sat and read my devotional, then finished up the book of Zechariah and began some breakfast. My body was craving protein because the day before I had taken a sick day from work to go get a strep test done....I had a sore throat for two days and the pain reminded me of when I had strep. Well, the test was negative but doc told me to just drink lots of fluids like hot tea with lemon or honey and cold juices and hot soups. So that was my Friday. Saturday I woke up with no more sore throat and just some mild cold symptoms. I had a quiet breakfast and then spent some time reading in a book from the library, got on the treadmill for a bit, and then read the morning paper. By then, Dave was up and it was a normal Saturday with errands, etc. But I'm so thankful for that quiet breakfast time.
- LUNCH DATE: Sunday after church it was so sunny and mild! Warm enough for no gloves or scarves and a lighter coat. Dave and I had a lunch date with my sister Joy in a town a little north of here. It was a nice time of chatting and eating yummy food and after we left the restaurant, we drove home and I took a walk. I'm so thankful the temperatures were warmer!

- MOVIE DATE: Dave and I refused to watch the super bowl. We just are soooo not into football and even though Dave is from Boston and we love all things Boston, we just aren't into it for foot ball games. Plus, we just knew the Pats would win :) Seriously, we decided to just hang out together in the family room and watch a Marvel movie. I'm not that into those flicks but I did enjoy Captain America Winter Soldier. And this one that was on Netflix was actually really well done, too. Plus it made Dave happy that I was enjoying it. I'm thankful for that!

- OUTDOORS POWER-WALKING! Monday was absolutely gorgeous. It was 62 degrees during my 1:30 break at work. I left the school and went walking all over the campus which includes a police station, a nursing home, our agency, the county social services dept and a social outreach agency. The campus park is actually quite large....there's an inner loop road and an outer one and I walked both. I'm so thankful I can do this while at work. And then later when I was home, before dinner, I walked another mile. It felt so good!
- PHONE CALL! On Wednesday, the ballerina called to "check in" from UNH and said the last 2 weeks back have been very hectic. But...she has been offered a spot in some honors Russian organization on campus and so she's thrilled about that. It was so nice to hear her voice and hear how this 2nd semester is going so far. She's busy but she's happy. I'm thankful for that.
I'm thankful each day has been a bit warmer than the last 2 weeks were and I'm thankful most of our snow has melted. Maybe Spring really will come a bit earlier this year!
That wraps up my faves......enjoy the weekend!

It sounds as if you were enjoying the same kind of wonderful weather we had this week, Faith. We did have rain a couple of days, but overall it was wonderful weather. We took a walk as well. I'm sorry that you were feeling rough last Friday but glad you didn't have strep...and that you are feeling better now.
I'm sure that hearing from Ballerina girl made your week!
Hello Faithe! It's been a while since I've visited but was happy to visit today. That was a good idea to watch a movie instead of watching the Super Bowl. Such a boring game. I ended up entertaining our granddaughter as she entertained me, also. Checked in with the other adults watching the game and knew I wasn't missing anything. :)
Congrats to the Ballerina on being offered that spot! Hope you have a good weekend.
It's so nice to begin the day at our own pace, isn't it? I treasure my slow, quiet mornings. I'm glad that you are getting some well-deserved warmer weather! Enjoy!
I always enjoy quiet times like that when you're the first one up and have some peace to yourself. Sounds like a positive week, especially with the walking. Glad you're feeling better and it must have been great to hear from your ballerina. Sounds like she's doing really well. Enjoy the weekend.
7 is sleeping in for me, too. I love that quiet morning time. My family likes the Marvel movies, and I enjoy them, too, though they're not what I'd normally seek out. We have a few we need to catch up on. Yay for getting some good exercise in. Glad Claire is doing so well!
Umm, 7 isn't sleeping in for me :) I won't tell you... I'm just not an early morning person.
Your power walks sound wonderful. And it's so warm!
Movie nights are always fun. Right now we are rewatching Harry Potter.
Happy weekend to you!
It does look like your having nice days. Walks with no gloves or hats and light jacket? I wish. We are still in a deep freeze here. Hubby and I watched that movie last weekend too. Love avocado toast. It's wonderful when our kids are doing well.
