How is it time for the Friday Fave Fives already??
Wow..this week just flew by!
I'm linking up to share five of my fave blessings from the past week. It's hard to choose just 5. There were so many amazing moments and people who came into my life this week. I'm grateful for each one of them! Click here to learn how to join in!
What made you thankful?

- SURPRISE! Because I had a free weekend due to Dave being away, I contacted the owners of this place where we like to rent a cottage each summer and asked if I could grab a motel room for Saturday night. She said yes and gave me a $10 discount. When I arrived late Saturday morning, B told me that she had a surprise for me. She and her husband were giving me Cottage 1...my fave cottage....for the same low price as the motel room!! I was shocked!! I could not believe it. I was in heaven!! I texted my youngest right away to tell her because it's also her fave cottage there and usually you have to rent the cottages by the week. The owners both told me that they love our family and that we are welcome back anytime. I really needed this time away as it's been a bit stressful between work, some new students who are quite low-functioning, and my back issues. And guess what? my friend from my hometown came up to join me for the weekend. We've been good friends since 1967 when we were both in 2nd grade. What fun we had!! Although I rarely make it back to my hometown area, I'm still in touch with the few friends who have remained there all these years and we do get together once in awhile. This was such a blessing to be able to have this weekend together and relax. I'm so thankful for Beate and Tim of The Shamrock!

- HIKE! Because my friend Cheryl got to the Adirondacks about an hour later than planned, and because my back still can't handle a mountain climb, we opted to re-visit (I've been there twice before and Cheryl had been there in winter on snowshoes) this place with its beautiful trails. We started out on the Rich Lake trail and then took the Peninsula Trail to the Great Overlook trail. What fun we had! We then drove down the road to the Overlook that gives you a wonderful glimpse of the state's very highest mountains (Marcy and Algonquin, Iroquois and Colden.) Those 4 mountains had snow on them! We even had a great view of Adams which we climbed with my husband back in 2015 and which has been one of the most difficult mountains I've ever climbed. What a blessing it was to have the afternoon together to explore. We followed our hike up by heading back to the cottage to change and then went out for drinks and dinner at the local pub..pretty much the only restaurant in town and the only thing open on a Saturday night this time of year! I'm so thankful we had a beautiful day!
- SAFE! My husband Dave left very early at dawn for the medical missions trip to the DR on Saturday morning. When I dropped him off at 4:30 a.m. I had told him to shoot me a text that they arrived safely. Well, I had to find out by going on social media where someone from the team had posted a pic with the news that all was well. They are serving some very poor people down there this week and they are all loving it and seeing God glorified. I'm looking forward to seeing my husband tomorrow night when they return. So thankful for safe travels.
- MOVIE NIGHT! I got home from my weekend away late Sunday afternoon and after dinner, Courtney and I decided to watch a movie on Netflix together. We enjoyed some popcorn together and just laughed at the comedy which wasn't a great movie but just something light and silly. Although I wish she could afford her own apartment (rent is insanely high here in the capital region of NY and most college graduates are living at home for quite awhile so they can pay off their college loan!), it is nice to have her around. She's a big help and it's nice to actually be friends with our young adult daughters. Can any of you relate?? So thankful for her and our quiet evening.

- AFTER WORK HIKE! After work yesterday, I had a hair appointment and since she is located just on the other side of the urban state park near where we live (about 5 miles away), I decided to pop onto the trails and do a quick hike. (I also did two power walks this week after work in my neighborhood and on the bike path in town) The entire perimeter loop is only 1.8 miles so I did 1.5 of it and then another inner trail for another .25 miles. What a wonderful late afternoon hike in the woods and along the Mohawk/Hudson Rivers I had. The above photos was one I made for my instagram account and highlights the area. The trail in the top pic is of the perimeter trail just before coming to the cliff edge where it continues parallel to the river. I felt really good after the hike..it was the first time in over a month that I was able to walk at a fast pace to get my heart rate up because my back is finally starting to feel better..and...it was the perfect way to end my day! Yesterday was the 7th anniversary of my mother's sudden fatal heart attack so I was happy to be out in nature taking care of my own heart! I hiked quickly, too, because it already starts to get dark in the woods by 4:30! I'm thankful for nice, easy trails to hike that are close to home!
That wraps up my week...there were other blessings but those were the highlights.
I hope you all have a wonderfully relaxing weekend!

Oh, my! what a lovely place to spend the weekend. And what a lovely surprise to get that cottage. So glad you were able to spend time away with a long-time friend.
It sounds like you and your friend had a good time anyway out in nature.
Hurray for healing and being able to power walk esp on the anniversary of your mom's passing.
I am blessed to have my daughter around for this season of her life. ANd it is a double blessing that we are friends. We also watched a movie: Blind Sighted. It is about blind kiddos climbing Mount Everest in Nepal.
Have a great week, Faithe.
What a wonderful place to spend the weekend and such beautiful scenery. I'm glad you had a good week despite hubby being away - I hope he gets home safely. Good to hear your back is improving too. Have a good weekend.
Beautiufl photos of the Adirondacks.. The colors and the light are exceptional... It is such a beautiful area.. We will be driving through them on our way north to MA soon!!!
What a wonderful surprise! This is the very best time of year for hiking...all those beautiful colours and no bugs.
What a sweet thing for the cottage owners to do. Glad you had a great weekend with a friend and your husband's trip seems to be going well. I know what you mean about having adult kids home that we're friends with. My youngest is looking for a job, has had some great interviews, but nothing is panning out yet. I'm not in a hurry for him to leave, but he has that natural urge to be out on his own, so I am praying for God to lead him to just the right job at just the right time. Meanwhile, I enjoy his company and his help.
You have spent a lot of time this past week out in nature which is a very healing and restful place to be. Love all those autumn leaves in the photos.
I'm glad you had the opportunity to spend that night in your favorite cabin and with a good friend.
Treasure each evening of fun with your daughter. One day they will only be memories.
Have a good week!
What a lovely surprise for your getaway. Very sweet of the owner to do that for you. Sounds like you had a wonderful week with lots of nature time! My youngest just moved out this month. It's much quieter around here but I know it will be good for her. She moved into a house share situation because renting on your own is crazy expensive here too.
